Terms and Conditions:

Vodacom (Pty) Ltd (“Vodacom”) is running the Vodacom #DankoVodacom Competition (the “Competition”) where ten (10) lucky customers stand a chance of winning their share of 10GB.

All participants during the term of the Competition agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions:

Duration

  1. The Competition is open to all Vodacom new and existing customers with an active number registered on the Vodacom network from 14h00 on 18 March 2025 to 13h59 on 19 March 2025 (the “End Date”).
  2. The duration of the Competition may be extended or curtailed at the discretion of Vodacom.

Prizes

  1. Ten (10) lucky entrants) stand a chance of each winning 1GB:
  • five (5) winners from Facebook; and
  • five (5) winners from X.

In total, there are ten (10) winners, and 10GB will be given away in total.

Eligibility

  1. Only entries received during the Competition period as stipulated in clause 1 above will qualify as potential winners.
  2. The Competition is only open to natural persons. Entries received from business accounts held by legal persons (amongst other Corporates and SMEs, etc.) are excluded from participating and winning in the Competition.
  3. Any participant under the age of 18 shall present their parent / guardian’s written consent to enter the Competition at Vodacom’s request.
  4. Only entrants who are using SIM cards that have been RICA registered are eligible to win the Competition. Each owner of a SIM card(s) is responsible to comply with South African law by RICA registering their SIM cards.
  5. Employees, directors and agents of Vodacom and all participating stores, their immediate families, life partners, business partners and associates and any person directly involved with the sponsoring, devising, production, management or marketing of this Competition are not eligible to participate in this Competition.
  6. Participants must reside in South Africa and be in possession of a valid South African identity document or permanent residence permit or temporary residence permit valid for a period exceeding 3 (three) months for the Republic of South Africa and valid at the End Date.
  7. In the event that the user of the mobile phone (i.e. the participant in the Competition) is not the person that is responsible for payment of the participating mobile phone account/ charges, then the prize will be awarded to the person that is responsible for payment of the participating mobile phone account/ charges.

Valid Entry

  1. In order to stand a chance of winning in the Competition, qualifying entrants must -
  • pick any number of words that best describe their plans for the long weekend (21 March 2025 until 23 March 2025), using the wordsearch attached to the social media post; and
  • include the #DankoVodacom hashtag in their reply,

during the Competition period.

  1. Participants may enter multiple times.
  2. There are no additional charges for participating in the Competition apart from the standard data costs to upload a valid entry, as explained in clause 11 Standard data costs apply as per the user’s Service Provider and existing price plan for data usage.
  3. Vodacom shall not be liable for any costs incurred by the winners for entering the Competition or in claiming any prizes, where applicable. 
  4. Data transfer speeds are not guaranteed and are dependent on network availability and utilisation.

Prize draw

  1. The winners will be randomly selected on or after the End Date from all eligible entries who meet all the requirements set out in these Terms and Conditions. The verified winners will be notified within two (2) working days after he / she has been selected and verified as a winner.

Winner Validation

  1. All the information provided or related to this Competition shall be managed, captured and approved by Vodacom.
  2. Vodacom will share personal details of the respective winners, such as name and contact number with a Vodacom approved third party agencies, Ogilvy and VML, who will notify the respective winners that they have won in the Competition, and you hereby agree to such disclosure as is necessary to effect prize fulfilment.
  3. Vodacom, Ogilvy and VML will use reasonable efforts to contact the winners via direct messaging on their social media profile on the contact details provided by the participants to participate in the Competition.
  4. Vodacom, Ogilvy and VML shall attempt to contact the winners for a period of 1 (one) normal working day after their names have been drawn and verified as winners. The winners will be contacted during normal working hours, between 8 (eight) in the morning and 5 (five) in the afternoon.  Winners will be advised of arrangements in respect of prizes at the time of contacting the selected winners.
  5. Should a participant not be available on the contact details provided during the timeframe stipulated above or rejects, forfeits or declines acceptance of the prize, that person's right to the prize will be deemed to have been waived and the prize will be forfeited. Vodacom reserves the right to then award the prize to the next randomly drawn participant.
  6. The claim for any prize will be subject to security and validation, and Vodacom reserves the right to withhold any prize until it is satisfied that the claim by a particular winner is valid. The selected winners must be able to identify themselves, in a manner determined by Vodacom, as the qualifying entrants to the Competition and have to comply with the required validation procedure, determined by Vodacom, in order to claim any prizes, failing which such winner will forfeit the prize and the prize will be awarded to the next selected qualifying entrant.
  7. Notwithstanding the fact that the prizes vest in the winners immediately upon the determination of the results, in the event that the required documentation from a particular winner has not been received at the agreed cut-off date communicated to the winner, or no effort is made on the part of any of the winners to make special arrangements to meet the deadline set by Vodacom, such prize will be forfeited. Vodacom then reserves the right to award the prize to the finalist that is next in line.
  8. The winners’ name and surname will be displayed on www.facebook.com/vodacom and www.x.com/vodacom after a period of at least 1 (one) working days subsequent to notification of the winners.
  9. Vodacom shall request the winners’ consent in writing to their image and/or likeness being used and published by Vodacom in connection with the Competition for a period of 12 (twelve) months after they have been announced as winners. The winners may decline the use of their image and/or likeness by Vodacom.

 

Prize Delivery

  1. All prizes will be sent to the winners as a downloadable link via direct messaging on their social media account used to enter the Competition.
  2. In order to effect arrangements required for the prize fulfilment in terms of this Competition, Vodacom will share personal details of the respective winners, such as name and surname, contact number and physical address, with a Vodacom approved third agency, Ogilvy and VML, for distribution of the prize items, and you hereby agree to such disclosure as is necessary to effect prize fulfilment.
  3. No prize is transferable or exchangeable and may not be redeemed for cash.
  4. If a winner cannot accept a prize for any reason whatsoever, the prize will be awarded to the next selected entrant.
  5. All risks and ownership of the prizes shall pass to the winners on transfer/delivery thereof and hence all of Vodacom’s obligations in regard to the Competition as well as in regard to the prizes shall terminate.

Personal information

  1. User data collected via the Competition will not be used for any other purpose than for execution of the Competition.
  2. User data collected via entry for this Competition will be stored for as long as it is legally required to and in accordance with Vodacom’s Privacy Policy, http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/terms/privacy-policy.

General

  1. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the participant or the promoter in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 ("CPA").
  2. The judges’ decision on any aspect of the Competition including the allocation of the prizes will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  3. In the event of a dispute in regard to any aspect of the Competition and/or the Terms and Conditions, Vodacom’s decision will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  4. Vodacom may refuse to award a prize if entry procedures or these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices. Vodacom is entitled in its entire discretion to reject any participant for any reason and will not be obliged to notify participants that they are rejected. 
  5. Vodacom and/or any other person or party associated with the Competition, their associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors and any of its personnel involved in the Competition, shall not be liable whatsoever for any loss or damage incurred or suffered (including but not limited to direct or indirect or consequential loss), death or personal injury suffered or sustained arising from either participation in the Competition or from claiming the prize.
  6. Vodacom is not liable for any technical failures affecting participation and / or prize redemption process of the Competition. In addition, neither Vodacom nor its agents shall be responsible for any loss or misdirected entries, including entries that were not received due to any failure of hardware, software, or other computer or technical systems affecting participating in and/or the prize redemption process of the Competition.
  7. Vodacom, its directors, employees, agents and distributors, are not responsible for any misrepresentation (whether written or verbal) in respect of any prize nor in respect of any warranties, guarantees or undertakings given by any person other than Vodacom itself.
  8. If Vodacom is required by law to alter or cancel any aspect of the Competition or to terminate it as a result of changes in legislation, or for any reason whatsoever, it will have the right to terminate the Competition being offered, with immediate effect and without notice. In such event all entrants hereby waive any rights which they may have against Vodacom and its associated companies, agents, contractors and/or sponsors.
  9. All information relating to the Competition which is published on any marketing material will form part of these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any conflict between such marketing material and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

Home Internet LTE & 5G with Fair Usage Policy (FUP) Terms and Conditions

Vodacom Standard Terms

  1. Vodacom reserves the right to suspend your service in the event that we suspect that you in any way abuse the service or if you use devices that are not compliant with ICASA specifications to access the services.
  2. Vodacom reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions and where such change is material Vodacom shall provide you with reasonable prior written notice before implementing such change.
  3. You may access the Home Internet data service (the "Service") via the Top Up payment type.
  4. The Service will only be available on a 24-month or 36-month contract.
  5. You will be billed on a monthly basis for the total subscription amount for the Service, including device costs if applicable, as well as any other Value Added Services ("VAS"), bundle purchases or out of bundle usage.
  6. After your contract period for the Services has expired, your contract will continue on a month-to-month basis.
  7. You may terminate your Service during the initial contract period or the renewal/upgrade period by giving Vodacom at least 20 (twenty) business days' notice in writing. Early cancellation will be subject to a payment penalty determined by Vodacom (the "Cancellation Fee"). Vodacom may charge you up to 75% of the balance of the outstanding Service fees (the "Balance") as the Cancellation Fee. The Balance is determined as follows: the monthly subscription amount times by the remaining months of the contract. Upon early cancellation of the Service, you will also have to pay all outstanding amounts in respect of the Services and/or Apparatus related to the Services in addition to the Cancellation Fee.
  8. If you choose to cancel your Service between the 1st and the 3rd of the month the cancellation will only be effective at the end of that particular month. If you choose to cancel your Service after the 3rd of the month, the cancellation will pend to the end of the following month. You will retain your Fair Usage Policy (FUP) until the Service cancellation is effective.
  9. You are able to do a SIM swap.

Home Internet Contract Devices

  1. This Service can be offered in 3 variations: as SIM only, bundled with 4G router or bundled with 5G router. It is the customer choice to select the deal that is preferable to their needs.
  2. If you select the SIM only tariff, the Service's SIM card will only work in the Vodacom issued router or a Vodacom approved home router. You can check the list of approved home routers here: Home Internet Approved Routers. The responsibility to use a compatible and approved home router lies solely on the customer.
  3. If you select a SIM only tariff but choose to use your own compatible home router then, any warranty, guarantee, customer support and service and/or education pertaining to this router will not be offered to you and/or covered from Vodacom.
  4. The Service is only compatible with approved home routers that are part of the predefined list. Therefore, it is not compatible and will not work with mobile phones, dongles and/or MiFi routers.

Contract Activation and Use

  1. You can activate the Service regardless of if your location has sufficient LTE coverage and capacity. However, you can check the LTE coverage in your area on: Home Internet (vodacom.co.za).
  2. When you use the Service, you have to insert the SIM card into an approved home router or the bundled home router.
  3. Your access to the Vodacom network is dependent on whether you use the Service in an LTE or 5G coverage area and on the router's ability to connect to Vodacom's LTE or 5G network.
  4. This Service does fall back on to 3G and/or 2G technology. However, the responsibility will lie solely on the customer to ensure that their area of use has sufficient LTE or 5G coverage.
  5. You are able to change the location in which you access the Service at any time, provided that the location in which you are based and/or changing to is an LTE or 5G coverage area. If your new location does not have sufficient LTE or 5G coverage and capacity, then you may have to cancel your Service and incur the Cancellation Fees. The responsibility will lie solely on the customer to ensure that their area of use has sufficient LTE or 5G coverage.
  6. There is a FUP (Fair Usage Policy) applicable on all Home Internet price plans. The Service's FUP will be allocated monthly, however, it cannot be carried over to another month.
  7. The Service's full monthly fair usage policy (FUP) will be issued and applied on the 1st of every subsequent calendar month going forward until the contract term expires. The full cost of the respective tariff will be due and deducted.
  8. If you activate the Home Internet service in the middle of a calendar month, the Service's full monthly fair usage policy (FUP) will apply whilst the Service's bill will be pro-rated for the remainder of the month.
  9. Each Home Internet price plan has specific speed limiting applicable on upload and download speeds. Vodacom cannot be held liable to specific upload and download speeds as this is dependent on the location where the Service is being accessed.
  10. Once the monthly FUP has been reached, as per your respective price plan, data usage will no longer continue. To continue data usage, you would need to purchase a 100GB or 200GB bundle.

Fair Usage Policy

  1. Vodacom reserves the right to enforce and give effect to a Fair Usage Policy for purposes of managing and moderating the usage of the Vodacom Network (the “Network”), and to ensure that the functional integrity of the Network renders acceptable levels of subscriber experience for all our customers. The following specific conditions are applicable to this price plan:
    • Where a customer reaches the prescribed maximum data usage (measurable in GB) within one calendar month of their fixed-term agreement, Vodacom will stop the Service; and/or
    • Vodacom reserves the right to amend, vary and/or adjust the Fair Usage Policy from timeto time for this Service, including the right to manage, protect and preserve the functional integrity and security of the Vodacom Network. Accordingly, Vodacom may take reasonable measures to optimize the efficacy and performance of the Network for all Vodacom customers, including, where only if reasonably necessary, proactively control each customer's bandwidth usage, line-speed and overall functional experience of the Service.

Order of consumption, validity and out of bundle

  1. The Service's FUP will only be valid for 30 days, or up until the end of the calendar month of FUP issued. Therefore, if the FUP is allocated to you on the 1st of July; your FUP is valid up until and including the 31st of July 23:59. The customer will start every month with a new FUP according to their respective FUP.
  2. The Service will first deplete data from your monthly FUP then from any carried over and/or data from data bundles purchased.
  3. If after you have used your FUP, and you purchase a data bundle, you will forfeit all your unused data from the purchased data bundle at the time of that specific data bundle's expiry.
  4. After the respective FUP from the Service is depleted and you have no other active data bundles, the Service will no longer continue.

Voice, MMS & SMS services

  1. The Service does not include MMS, Voice services and outgoing SMS. Incoming SMS is allowed.

Additional Bundles

  1. You may purchase multiple additional data bundles for the Service.
  2. If you purchase additional bundles on the Top Up billing option, the cost of the additional bundles will be deducted from your airtime. If you have no airtime balance or insufficient airtime, you will be able to purchase data bundles using your credit or bank card.

Usage Notifications and Data Transfer

  1. You will receive your data usage notifications via the Vodacom online channels or on any number you provide to Vodacom other than the number linked to the Service.
  2. Due to the nature of the price plans, you will not be able to transfer data from the respective monthly FUP.
  3. You can transfer purchased data bundles (that were purchased over and above the monthly FUP) to other customers that use the Service. For more information, please visit Vodacom Terms and Conditions - Data Transfer T & Cs
  4. Transfer of Ownership is possible. The sole responsibility lies on the customer to understand whether the new location has sufficient LTE or 5G coverage and capacity.

Balance View throughs

  1. You may view your data balance on:
    • Vodacom Online
    • Customer Care channels
    • The VodaPay App

Migrations & Cancellations

  1. You can migrate to another price plan option within the Home Internet price plans however the new plan's FUP and terms and conditions will be applicable.
  2. You can migrate into the Home Internet price plans from another Home Internet price plan however the new plan's FUP and terms and conditions will be applicable.
  3. If you migrate to a lower price plan you will be liable for a downward migration fee.
  4. Migrations on Top Up plans will be pended until the end of the month and the new price plan will only take effect at the beginning of the next consecutive calendar month.
  5. If you migrate to another price plan, your contract period for the Service will remain unchanged.
  6. You may migrate from another data or voice contract into this Home Internet service.
  7. Upon migration any discount applied on your original tariff will fall away and will no longer apply.

Upgrades

  1. You may upgrade into this Service. The sole responsibility will lie on the customer to check that the location where the Service is being accessed from has sufficient LTE or 5G coverage and capacity.
  2. If you upgrade into this Service, the rules pertaining to the approved home router devices will apply. Any discounts applied on your original deal will fall away.
  3. You may upgrade out of the Service. Any discounts applied on your original deal will fall away.

Exclusions

  1. You may not use data sharing SIM cards for the Service.
  2. The Service's monthly FUP cannot be used for roaming.
  3. The customer is liable for any VAS services, bundle purchases or other purchases made over and above their subscription amount.

How long will the activation take?

Activating your eSIM takes a short time.

Can I activate a Vodacom eSIM outside of South Africa?

All Vodacom eSIM connections need to be activated within South Africa.

Which devices are supported?

Vodacom supports all eSIM enabled devices.

Does eSIM work with OneNumber?

eSIM works with OneNumber, if possible, we would suggest that you activate your OneNumber first and then move to eSIM afterwards.

Can I SIM swap from an eSIM to a plastic SIM?

You can revert to a plastic SIM card anytime you wish

What happens if I delete my eSIM?
  • As a contract or top-up customer, you will need to contact our customer care team to request them to resend you the QR code of which you will need to re-scan. As a prepaid customer you will need to do a SIM Swap on your eSIM if you no longer have your QR code.
  • In a case where you still have your QR code, you can simply re-scan it and the eSIM will be downloaded onto the device.
I don’t have a plastic SIM card; can I still get an eSIM?

eSIM is available for all new activations. 
In a case where you have lost/stolen your phone, you will need to replace with a physical SIM first before moving to eSIM.
 

Can I add a new line?

Add online rules will stay as it and will not change as a result of you opting for an eSIM.

Does eSIM work with data share?

Yes, eSIM works with all our offerings unless eSIM forms part of an exclusion list on that product.

Can I transfer my eSIM from one device to the other using self-service (on the phone)?
  • Currently in South Africa we don’t have this ability, we are working with different stakeholders to enable this functionality very soon.
     
  • In the meantime, you will need to do a SIM Swap when requiring your eSIM to be moved from one device to another. 
     
Can I use my eSIM on another device?

Currently this is not allowed as we deem it as a security risk. Customers will have to perform a SIM Swap for their own protection

What if I lost my eSIM QR code?
  • For prepaid customers, unfortunately you will have to purchase a new eSIM.
  • For top-up and postpaid, customer care will be able to re-send the QR code via email. 
     
What if I lost my confirmation code?

For top-up and postpaid, customer care or in-store agent will be able to re-send the confirmation code via email.

CIOT Shutdown FAQs

Discontinuing the Vodafone Smart SIM connectivity service

From 1 August 2024, your Design & Connected by Vodacom subscription will end. Kindly note that customers will no longer be billed for this service. This means that connectivity for your services will no longer be available.

Impact on Vodacom Smart Tech and V by Vodacom devices

From 1 August 2024, Design & Connected by Vodacom and V-SIM devices will no longer work. Please ensure you download any pictures you wish to retain via the Vodafone Smart App before this date.

If your device has an embedded Vodacom V-SIM it will not be possible to replace the V-SIM with an alternative SIM from another operator. Therefore, those devices will no longer work. 

The Design & Connected by Vodacom devices below have an embedded/ open slot V-SIM that cannot be replaced and the device will no longer work:

  • Neo Kids Watch
  • Curve Smart GPS Tracker
  • Linea watch
  • V-Kids Watch – (Alcatel MT30)
  • V-Bag – (Alcatel)

Note* All V-Home services (which included the Hub, camera and multipurpose sensor) came to an end in 2022

The Postpaid and Top Up recurring bundle adjustment will be effective from 1 July 2024, where there will be a 5% change in the discount value.

For example:
If you had 90% discount on your promo data, data, social or voice bundle, from 1 July you will now get 85% discount on the bundle. This means that if you were paying R11.99 you will now be paying R18.00 which you will see on your bill or on the channel where you purchase this bundle.

Do I need a Vodacom prepaid SIM card to use Easy2Own?

Yes, you’ll need a Vodacom prepaid SIM card. This is because your phone will be linked to your Vodacom prepaid number until it's paid off.

If you don't currently have a Vodacom prepaid SIM card but qualify for Easy2Own, we'll offer the option to easily get one and continue your application. 

What if I’m already on a contract or would like to keep my existing number?

No problem! Easy2Own works whether you're a Vodacom contract customer or have a number from another network.Here's what you'll need to do:

  • If you’re a Vodacom contract customer, switching to Vodacom Prepaid with your existing number requires calling 082 1958 to transfer it. This can only happen if your current contract is settled.
  • If you have a number from another network, our friendly staff at any Vodacom store can guide you through the transfer process and help you get started with Easy2Own.
How do I purchase Unlock Bundles?

Making payments on your Easy2Own phone is easy! Here's how it works:

  1. Open the Easy2Own app: Locate and launch the Easy2Own app on your phone.
  2. Tap "Buy Now": Look for a button labeled "Buy Now" and tap it to open the payment page.

  • The minimum payment period requires payments every month. This will take approximately 1 year to pay off your phone.
  • The maximum payment period requires payments every 2 months. This will take approximately 2 years to pay off your phone.
What happens if I miss an Unlock Bundle purchase?

If you don't purchase a new Unlock Bundle before your current one expires, your phone will be locked until you purchase a new bundle on the Easy2Own App.

Vodacom RED Suite Experience Competition Betway PSL Season 24/25 Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs

Terms and Conditions

Vodacom (Pty) Ltd (“Vodacom”) is running the Vodacom Red Suite Experience for the Betway PSL Season, Cup Competitions and Special Events for the 2024/25 season related to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs fixtures, (the “Competition/s” as relevant), on Vodacom’s official social media and digital platforms and any third-party partner social media and digital platforms.

These are the Standard Competition Terms and Conditions and comprise Part A (which contains the Competition-specific information) and Part B (which contains general terms and conditions that apply to all competitions). In the event of any conflict, the terms and conditions of Part B prevail.

By entering and/or participating in this Competition, entrants/participants opt into, agree, and consent to be bound by the Terms and Conditions (comprising Part A and Part B) stated below.

Part A: Competition-Specific Terms and Conditions

Competition Duration

  1. The Competition period/duration is from:
    • Start date: 09h00, Tuesday 3 September 2024,
    • End date: 23h59, Saturday 31 May 2025.
  2. Prize Draws are fixture-related and will be done before the relevant match for each Competition within the 2024/25 season or as communicated via social media platforms.

Competition Prize/s

  1. The Competition Prize comprises of is: 2 (two) suite tickets per winner to the relevant fixture as specified/promoted on Vodacom’s official social media and digital platforms and any third-party partner social media and digital platforms 
    • Total number of Prizes: 10 (ten) winners in total which will be allocated 2 (two) suite tickets per winner per competition fixture.
    • Value of the Prize(s) (per Prize): a maximum of R 3000 (three thousand Rand) per person (not transferable and not exchangeable or refundable).
    • The Prize includes suite tickets, food and beverage in the suite, as determined by Vodacom, and any other gift(s) Vodacom may provide.
    • The Prize excludes any and all travel to attend the event and any other costs which may be incurred by the winner to attend the event that falls outside elements provided as part of the prize.

Eligibility

  1. The Competition is open to Vodacom RED customers who have been Vodacom RED customers for an uninterrupted period of 24 (twenty-four) months or longer and who entered via Vodacom and/or other third-party social media and digital platforms, who completed the competition form, or other stipulated requirements for entry as specified for the Competition. 
  2. Eligible entries will be put into the draw and through the process of a randomiser (selected at random), the winner will be selected.
  3. Participants are allowed to enter a Competition once per day during the Competition period or as specified in the relevant social media campaign posts.

Prize Delivery

  1. The Prize delivery for this specific Competition will either be physical or electronic delivery via email as contemplated in clauses 1 and 35.3 The suite ticket must be presented at entry.

Part B: General Competition Terms and Conditions

In addition to the Specific Competition Terms and Conditions outlined in Part A above, the following General Terms and Conditions apply to the Competition.

Duration

  1. The duration of the Competition (as stipulated in Part A above) may be extended, curtailed or cancelled at the discretion of Vodacom.

Prize

  1. Vodacom has the right to change the type and quantity of prize/s (described in Part A above) to determine the value of the Prize/s or to substitute it at their discretion.

Eligibility

  1. Only entries received during the Competition period (as stipulated in clause 1 in Part A above) will be eligible entries.
  2. The Competition is only open to natural persons. Entries received from business accounts held by legal persons (amongst other Corporates and SMEs, etc.) are excluded and not eligible to participate in the Competition.
  3. The competition is open to South African Residents over the age of 18 who are in possession of a valid identity document.
  4. Only entrants/participants who are using SIM cards that have been RICA (Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act) registered are eligible to win the Competition. Each owner of a SIM card(s) is responsible for complying with South African law by RICA registering their SIM cards.
  5. Unless otherwise stipulated, employees, directors and agents of Vodacom and all participating stores, their immediate families, life partners, business partners and associates, and any person directly involved with the sponsoring, devising, production, management, or marketing of this Competition are not eligible to participate in this Competition.
  6. Entrants/participants must reside in South Africa and be in possession of a valid South African identity document or permanent residence permit or temporary residence permit valid for a period exceeding 3 (three) months for the Republic of South Africa and valid for the Competition duration, and provide a copy of such an identity document to Vodacom on request - failing which eligibility to win is forfeited.
  7. Entrants/participants are only eligible if they have not won a Vodacom competition during 6 (six) months preceding this Competition. The 6 (six) months calculation will start from the date that Vodacom fulfilled the Prize in the preceding Competition.
  8. In the event that the user of the mobile phone (i.e., the entrant/participant in the Competition) is not the person that is responsible for payment of the participating mobile phone account/ charges, then the Prize will be awarded to the person that is responsible for payment of the participating mobile phone account/ charges.
  9. Vodacom customers who are not in good standing with Vodacom, or are involved in any legal process with Vodacom, or are in arrears with their accounts are not eligible for this Competition.

Valid Entry

  1. A Valid Entry must comply with the Competition requirements as stated or described, including as above or on the platforms (social media or other – as selected by Vodacom in its discretion), and which competition requirements may include prompts or instructions for participating in the Competition, (e.g., voting for something, selecting or identifying something or other stated requirement), and/or by completing any required entry forms.
  2. Qualifying entrants/participants must complete all the required information on the Competition entry form or platform, which can be found via Vodacom’s social media platforms during the period of this Competition.
  3. Responses directly or via direct messages on any social media platform will not be considered valid entries.
  4. Only correct answers or a correct sequence of answers will be accepted and eligible to be selected as a winner at Vodacom’s discretion.
  5. Unless otherwise stipulated in or required by the entry requirements, there are no additional charges for participating in the Competition. In respect of online entries, standard data costs may apply to uploading a valid entry online, as may be applicable. Standard data costs apply as per the user’s Service Provider and existing price plan for data usage and are subject to the applicable Terms and Conditions of that service.
  6. Vodacom shall not be liable for any costs incurred by the winners for entering the Competition or claiming any prizes. 
  7. Data transfer speeds are not guaranteed and are dependent on network availability and utilisation.
  8. Vodacom (or its Agent) retains the right to determine, at its sole discretion, if entrants/participants meet the stipulated eligibility criteria, criteria for a valid entry, competition requirements, and may be eligible to win a prize based on the Competition requirements.
  9. Vodacom (or its Agent) is entitled to, in its sole discretion, disqualify any entrant/participant from the Competition for any reason and will not be obliged to notify entrants/participants of such disqualification.

Prize Draw and/or winner selection

  1. The winners of the Prize will be randomly selected from all eligible entries who meet all the requirements set out in these Terms and Conditions, and will be selected at Vodacom’s discretion.
  2. The verified winners will be notified within (2) two days after he/she has been selected and verified as a winner.
  3. The decision of the judges (who draw the prizes or decide the winners, as appointed by Vodacom at its sole discretion) on any aspect of the Competition, including the award or allocation of the Prizes, will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

Winner Validation

  1. All the information provided or related to this Competition shall be managed, captured, and approved by Vodacom.
  2. Vodacom will share personal details of the respective winners, such as name and contact number, with a Vodacom-approved third-party agency, Openfield Marketing, who will notify the respective winners that they have won in the Competition, and by participating in the Competition, entrants/participants agree to and accept such disclosure as is necessary to effect Prize fulfilment.
  3. Vodacom and Openfield Marketing will use reasonable efforts to contact the winners via direct messaging on their social media profile, email, or telephonically as may be applicable on the contact details provided by the entrants/participants to participate in the Competition.
  4. Vodacom and Openfield Marketing shall attempt to contact the winners for a period of 2 (two) normal working weekdays after their names have been drawn and verified as winners. The winners will be contacted during normal working hours, between 8 (eight) in the morning and 5 (five) in the afternoon. Winners will be advised of arrangements in respect of Prizes at the time of contacting the selected winners.
  5. Should an entrant/participant not be available, or should Vodacom or its Agent be unable to reach that participant for any reason whatsoever, on the contact details provided during the timeframe stipulated above or of the Participant rejects, forfeit, or decline acceptance of the Prize, that person’s right to the Prize will be deemed to have been waived and forfeited. Vodacom reserves the right at is sole discretion to then award the Prize to the next randomly drawn entrant/participant.
  6. The claim for any Prize will be subject to security and validation, and Vodacom reserves the right to withhold any Prize until it is satisfied that the claim by a particular winner is valid. The selected winners must be able to identify themselves, in a manner determined by Vodacom, as the qualifying entrants/participants to the Competition and have to comply with the required validation procedure, determined by Vodacom, in order to claim any Prizes, failing which such winner will forfeit the Prize and the Prize will be awarded to the next selected qualifying entrant.
  7. Notwithstanding the fact that the Prizes vest in the winners immediately upon the determination of the results, in the event that the required information, documentation or verification from a particular winner has not been received at the agreed cut-off date communicated to the winner, or no effort is made on the part of any of the winners to make special arrangements to meet the deadline set by Vodacom, such Prize will be forfeited. Vodacom then reserves the right to award the Prize to the finalist that is next in line.
  8. The winners’ name and location may be displayed on www.vodacom.co.za/competition_winners after a period of 2 (two) working days subsequent.
  9. Vodacom shall request the winner’s/winners (as may be applicable) consent in writing to their image and/or likeness being used and published by Vodacom in connection with the Competition for a period of 12 (twelve) months after they have been announced as the winner. The winner may decline the use of their image and/or likeness by Vodacom.

Prize Delivery

  1. The following general conditions apply to the delivery of Prizes.
  2. Vodacom and/or its Agent will determine the mode of Prize delivery at its discretion.
  3. If the method of Prize delivery is identified in Part A above, the clause applicable to that method of delivery as detailed more fully below will apply:
    • In the event of a Prize requiring physical delivery - delivery will take place via courier at dates, times and places arranged between Openfield and the winner(s). The winner must provide a correct address for delivery. Delivery may only be possible during weekdays (Monday – Friday) between 09h00 – 17h00, and not on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. If the winner is not home for courier or delivery, or the address cannot be found, the winner will be offered one more opportunity to provide an accessible address for delivery and to be available for such delivery; if delivery is still not possible or Vodacom’s Agent is unable for any reason whatsoever not to effect delivery, the Prize will be forfeited.
    • In the event of a Prize requiring physical collection – Vodacom or Openfield Marketing will communicate the address and location where and hours when the Prize can be collected by the winner(s). Neither Vodacom nor Openfield shall be held liable should the winner(s) be unable to collect the Prize. Prize/s must be collected by the winner/s within 10 (ten) working/business days from the announcement and notification of the winners, failing which the Prize will be forfeited.
    • In the event that a Prize can be sent electronically via email, a valid email address must be provided by the winner. If Vodacom or Openfield has sent the email containing the electronic Prize to the email address provided, delivery thereof will be deemed to have taken place. Neither Vodacom nor Openfield will be held liable if delivery to such an email address fails or if the winner is unable to retrieve the email or Prize as sent to such email.
    • In the event of data and/or airtime Prizes, all data Prizes will be allocated to the winners within seven (7) working days after the competition days after the competition winner(s) have been confirmed and the winner(s) details have been confirmed, including the Vodacom MSISDN (cell phone number) that the data and/or airtime must be transferred to.
    • In the event of a cash Prize, the cash Prize will be transferred via EFT (electronic funds transfer) to the winner within seven (7) working days after the competition winner(s) have been confirmed and the winner(s) banking details confirmed by receiving proof of banking details and identification to the satisfaction of Vodacom or its Agents in their sole discretion.
    • In the event of a Prize being an award on the VodaPay App, the winner must download the App and register on the App. Vodacom can only transfer money into the VodaPay wallet if the the winner has downloaded the App and registered on it. The cash Prize will be transferred into the winner’s VodaPay wallet within seven (7) working days after confirmation by the winner of their VodaPay details. Should the winner fail to meet the criteria for a period of ten (10) working days, the Prize will be forfeited.
  4. Should Vodacom or Openfield not be able to fulfil their obligation in delivering the Prize(s) to the winner(s), for whatsoever reason, including due to lack of accurate information provided by the winner(s) or the winner(s) inability to receive the Prize, the Prize will be forfeited – which will be determined at Vodacom’s or its Agent’s sole discretion.
  5. In order to effect arrangements required for the Prize fulfilment in terms of this Competition, Vodacom will share personal details of the respective winners, such as name and surname, and contact number, with a Vodacom-approved third agency, Openfield Marketing, for distribution of the Prize items, and by participating in the Competition, entrants/participants agree to such disclosure as is necessary to effect Prize fulfilment.
  6. If a winner cannot accept a Prize for any reason whatsoever, or if Vodacom or Openfield are unable to deliver the Prize for whatsoever reason (including the reasons mentioned above), the Prize will be awarded to the next selected eligible entrant.
  7. All risks and ownership of the Prizes shall pass to the winners on transfer/delivery thereof, and all of Vodacom’s obligations regarding the Competition and Prizes shall terminate.

Prizes are not transferable and right of admission is reserved

  1. No Prize is transferable or exchangeable and may not be redeemed by, transferred, or given to another person.
  2. No Prize can be redeemed for cash and may not be sold.
  3. Vodacom will not transfer, allocate, or assign a Prize to someone else if requested by the winner.
  4. Where a Prize is for an event(s) and / or experience(s):
    • It is restricted to the winner(s) of the Prize only. No additional guests will be allowed to enter or have access to the event(s) and / or experience(s);
    • Right of Admission to the event(s) and experience(s) is reserved by Vodacom, its Agent’s or Partners in respect of the event or experience;
    • Vodacom (including its Agent’s or Partners in respect of the event or experience) reserves the right to have a winner (and their partner and / or guest) removed from an event at any time should the behaviour or language of such winner or guest, at the discretion of Vodacom (its Agent’s or Partners in respect of the event or experience), be considered to constitute harassment or be inappropriate, including behaviour or language that is discriminatory or hateful on grounds such as race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language and birth; and
    • Vodacom (including its Agent’s or Partners in respect of the event or experience) reserves the right to remove any winners (and their partner and / or guest) from an event at any time should their behaviour be considered to be dangerous to themselves or any other person or contravening any applicable health and safety requirements.

Undertakings, limitation of liability and indemnification

  1. Event(s) and/or experience(s), to which the Competition Prize relates, may be hosted by third parties (for example, at sport stadia, theatres, convention or other centres owned by other entities). Winner(s) agree to comply with the rules and regulations applicable to events held at such premises upon entry, and as may be stipulated by the owners of such premises.
  2. Entry to any events, experiences, and venues in respect of which Vodacom may give away prizes as part of competitions on its platforms, are bound and regulated by specific event or venue-related rules and regulations, which may be determined by event or venue owners or relevant governing bodies. By participating in this competition, Competition Participants:
    • acknowledge and agree that they are bound by such event, experience, or venue rules upon entry to such premises, event or experience;
    • undertake to adhere to and comply with any and all reasonable event, experience, or venue rules and/or regulations; and
    • indemnify Vodacom, its agents, or employees from any liability associated with Competition participants/winners failure to adhere to such rules and regulations and any damages that occur as a result.
  3. Vodacom, its associated companies, partners, agents, contractors, sponsors, and personnel involved in or associated with the Competition, or a related event or experience shall not be liable whatsoever for any loss or damage incurred or suffered (including but not limited to direct or indirect or consequential loss), death or personal injury suffered or sustained arising from either participation in the Competition, from claiming the Prize, or attending an event or experience forming part of the Prize.
  4. Vodacom (including its Agent’s or Partners in respect of the event or experience) is not liable for any technical failures affecting participation and/or Prize redemption process of the Competition. In addition, neither Vodacom nor its agents shall be responsible for any loss or misdirected entries, including entries that were not received due to any failure of hardware, software, or other computer or technical systems affecting participating in and/or the Prize redemption process of the Competition.
  5. Vodacom (including its Agent’s or Partners in respect of the event or experience) cannot and will not be held liable should it be impossible for it to deliver the Prize or to fully perform, execute or fulfil the Prize. Should the Prize be linked to a specific fixture, match, event or experience, and should that specific fixture, match, event, or experience be cancelled, interrupted, postponed, or otherwise affected by events or factors outside of Vodacom’s control or at Vodacom’s discretion, Vodacom cannot be held liable for the fulfilment of the Prize or be required to provide an equivalent or replacement Prize.
  6. Vodacom, its directors, employees, agents and distributors are not responsible for any misrepresentation (whether written or verbal) in respect of any Prize nor in respect of any warranties, guarantees or undertakings given by any person other than Vodacom itself.

Personal information and permission to receive marketing and promotional information

  1. User data collected via the Competition will not be used for any other purpose than for the execution of the Competition and/or for the sharing of related marketing and promotional information.
  2. User data collected via entry for this Competition will be stored for as long as it is legally required to and in accordance with Vodacom’s Privacy Policy, http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/terms/privacy-policy.
  3. By entering this Competition, entrants/participants give Vodacom permission to send them marketing or promotional information about Vodacom products, services and other Competitions, and consent to their name, contact number, and/or email address being shared with official Partner/s in the campaign to which the Competition relates, for marketing or promotional purposes.
  4. The entrant(s) will be given the option to opt out of receiving marketing or promotional information via the platform from which they receive such information.

General

  1. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the entrant/participant or the promoter in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (“CPA”).
  2. In the event of a dispute in regard to any aspect of the Competition and/or the Terms and Conditions, Vodacom’s decision will be final, and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  3. Vodacom may, at its discretion, refuse to award a Prize if entry procedures or these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices.
  4. If Vodacom is required to alter or cancel any aspect of the Competition or to terminate it by law, as a result of changes in legislation, or for any reason whatsoever, it has the right to terminate the Competition, with immediate effect and without notice. In such event, all entrants/participants waive any rights they may have against Vodacom and its associated companies, agents, contractors, official Partners and/or sponsors.
  5. All information relating to the Competition which is published on any marketing material will form part of these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any conflict between such marketing material and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

30 years ago Vodacom embarked on its journey as a budding startup with grand visions.

30 years from now Vodacom envisions itself as a beacon of innovation, aiming for 300 million customers, ongoing societal impact, and expansion beyond mobile boundaries. 
 
30 years ago my first position at Vodacom was a senior accountant in the general ledger budget control division. As we transitioned to computers, I provided Oracle training, ensuring a smooth transition and utilisation of the system, as well as overseeing budgeting and procurement.

My first call was likely occurred with a colleague within the office. Speaking of which, there’s a story about my former colleague, George, who was a photocopier technician. When he got his first cell phone, he carried it everywhere and even asked me to call him when he was in a taxi. One unfortunate day, he fell asleep in the taxi with his phone, and it got stolen.
 
My current smartphone is  Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy Fold5. 
 
The tech gadget that I cannot live without are my smartphones.
 
An innovative tech product or service that revolutionised the world is probably the smartphone, particularly the Apple iPhone, stands out as an innovative tech product.
 
The most played song on my playlist is Ballerina Girl by Lionel Richie.
 
Top 3 apps that I use frequently are LinkedIn, VodaPay and Instagram.
 
The best piece of advice I have received was

from my former boss, Leon Crouse, who advised me not to move to Cape Town when a job offer arose. He encouraged to stay and build my career here.

In another life, I would have been a trader, CFO or running my own business.
 
My style icon is that’s a tough one. I don’t have a style icon. Perhaps I see myself as my own style inspiration.
 
My favourite restaurant is Haiku in Cape Town. I highly recommend trying their Singapore chilli prawns and chili chicken.
 
A city that means a lot to me locally, Cape Town. Internationally, would be New York. The vibrant energy and diverse food scene. There’s always so much happening, and I thoroughly enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and good vibes they offer.
